The time has come for BCFCU to hold our 70th annual meeting of the membership. This year’s meeting will be held on Thursday, June 18th, 2026 at 6:30PM. Once again, we will be holding the meeting in the auditorium of Taylor County Middle School. BCFCU continues to grow, and we have some exciting new improvements to tell you about! We will continue to update our website with meeting information as the date draws near. We will also publish our Annual Meeting Program on our website the day of the meeting for you to view. Please mark your calendars for this event and we hope you make plans to join us this year!
While our Annual Meeting is full of important information about the financial strength and direction BCFCU is heading, another very important part of each year’s meeting is the selection of our Board of Directors. Each year there are seats on the board that either come open or are up for re-election to a three-year term. This year, three board members are up for re-election and have agreed to continue serving, if elected. Any candidate seeking nomination should contact the credit union by May 18th, 2026, to be considered by the nominating committee. The three board members who have been nominated for re-election are listed with a short bio in this announcement. Please contact either Cynthia Nowlin or Rob Hilley with any questions related to nominating a candidate at 850-223-7100.
MEET THE CANDIDATES
Scott Barton – I have been a member of the credit union since I began working at the mill 31 years ago. I have served on the Supervisory Committee for 16 years, serving as chairman for twelve years. In addition, I have proudly served as a member of the board the past five years. Because of this, I understand the operations and requirements that the NCUA has set forth. I am also very active at First Baptist Church and with the Taylor County United Way. I look forward to continuing to make BCFCU even better in the years to come.
Marq Ellis – As a lifelong resident of Taylor County, I whole-heartedly understand the financial needs of our community and the importance BCFCU plays in fulfilling those needs. I have spent the last five years serving on the board of BCFCU and would appreciate the opportunity to continue doing so. I recently transitioned into a teaching role at Taylor County High School after having spent the previous 8 year working at American Aluminum. I also serve the youth of our community in a myriad of ways, including as a football and basketball coach at TCHS. Both my experience professionally, along with my community involvement, would be tremendous assets as a BCFCU board member. It would be my honor to continue serving the credit union and our members by serving on the Board of Directors.
David S. Sullivan – As owner and CEO of The Roach Coach, Inc., a pest control company locally operated in Taylor County, I have been privileged to contribute to the growth and strength of our community for many years. Being a successful business owner, I know and understand the unique challenges small business face every day and how key it is to have a financial institution that strives to provide support and encouragement in our community. If re-elected, I promise to continue to be a positive influence for our credit union and continue looking forward as we prepare for success in an ever-changing financial landscape. Thank you for your consideration.
